Save 5% On College Textbook Rentals – Daily Deal

by Rate Nerd on August 7, 2010

Renting college textbooks is cheaper and easier than buying them.

Save 5% off any textbook rental from Chegg – good through August 20, 2010. Click here and use promo code “Aff5″ at checkout.

If you have not heard of them, Chegg is an incredible success story and has built an incredible business in just a few years.  Here is how it works:

1) Search for the textbook you need

2) Choose rental period – semester, quarter or 60 days;

3) Free shipping both ways – use the retunable orange Chegg box

4) Chegg plants a tree with every rental

Their familiar orange boxes are well known at the local UPS store because so many students are now using the service.

You can save a lot of money by renting instead of buying and returning college textbooks. For example, one of the most popular Economics textbooks (Economics: Principles, Problems, and Policies) sells for $187.50, but can be rented for a semester for $21.99. With the Chegg 5% discount that goes down to $20.89

These are the same exact textbooks which are sold at the college bookstore. Chegg purchase the books from the same publishers that the college bookstores do. The only difference is that by renting the books, you save money compared to buying and returing the book at the end of the semerster. If you want to buy the book, you are charged the price of the book minus the rental fee you have already paid.

Save 5% off any textbook rental from Chegg – good through August 20, 2010. Click here and use promo code “Aff5″ at checkout.

Glad I found this site. I start my sophmore year this fall and really wasn’t looking forward to spending half my savings account on text books. Chegg is awesome, and I will seriously look into renting my books too. Thank you for the great link and info, a lifesaver.

Just the idea of renting a $187.50 book for a quarter of that price is reason alone to use Chegg for all most text books. I will save a fortune and have just enough money to pay for my labs :) . Thank you, Thank you for posting about Chegg I was losing sleep thinking about the money I was going to have to spend on text books this year.

Thank you Ratenerd for this valuable piece of information. I was not even aware of Chegg prior to reading about it here in your website. Just thinking about the monies I spent last semester for the textbooks I purchased made me throw up in my mouth. I could have save me some funds. Oh well, thanks now I know better. I’ll use Chegg from here on.

I will be going to Chegg right after I post my comment. This is such a great resource for me especially since classes begin for me next week. I will have to buy at least 5 books this year and Chegg is my answer this semester , next semester and every year after that till I graduate.

Chegg is my new best friend. I have now just finished purchasing all my book for this upcoming semester, and I saved over $600 dollars! This is great news for my checking and saving accounts. Saving money is so important today, and anything to take away the ill feelings of spending over a grand on books is good for me. Thank you Chegg and thank you RateNerd.

Chegg is Great! Wow I will have seriously look into using it. I can’t believe that you can text books at such a steal. I know how hard it was for me last year at the beginning of the semester not having much money and all of this was due to the 5 books I had to buy. This year I can actually go out and be with my roommates without worrying about spending all my “fun” money. Thank you Rate Nerd.
