Daily Deal! $120 in Rebates for Online Banking

Citizens Bank has a new program that pays you $0.10 every time you use your ATM card, Debit Card, or pay bills online up to $120 a year.

Enroll any Citizens Bank personal checking account in Green$ense to get paid 10 cents for every paperless payment you make including your debit card (whether you sign or enter your PIN), online bill pay, or have automatic payments charged to your checking account or debit card.

According to their site each dollar you earn in the program has the following environmental impact:

Save emissions equal to more than 87 miles of driving
Save almost 4 gallons of gasoline consumed by transporting statements/bills
Prevent more than 3.5 gallons of waste water
Lower the global warming impact equal to turning off your refrigerator for a week
Save more than 7 square feet of forest

They have a calculator that lets you figure how much your personal impact will be. I would reduce my carbon footprint by eliminating six pounds of paper statements annually, and reducing transportation costs by nearly 50 gallons of gas. I have no idea how they calculate this stuff – but it sends the right message that we can all save money and the environment by doing more online (and save $ on stamps!)
